You Can Help! Become Involved
Your local RC&D council will welcome your volunteer participation in helping the RC&D council “make things happen!” You or your organization can help identify problems, sponsor projects and create solutions for your community.
RC&D is based on the idea that local people know what their communities need and can create solutions that will really work. Groups of local volunteers establish RC&D Councils, which represent sponsoring organizations within a multi-county region. RC&D Council Directors and Committees volunteer their time to address important issues in their communities, and to build a better life for themselves and others. RC&D works across jurisdictional and political lines to solve resource problems. The strength of the RC&D program is local people working together to solve their own problems. The development of local leadership and community pride is a key part of RC&D projects and successes.
Volunteers and Community
To carry out our mission, the RC&D relies on volunteers who join the local RC&D Council to guide its activities. The sponsoring organizations of these volunteers commit to working toward locally established goals. Goals for a local RC&D are established by the RC&D council through a coordinated planning process involving all interest groups and individuals who share in the RC&D council’s stated mission. Through the planning process the RC&D council creates a plan that addresses four critical elements: Membership Application
- Land Management
- Land Conservation
- Water Management
- Community Development
